Project Unify Youth Summit 2010

A gathering of young people with and without intellectual disabilities who will be educated, motivated and activated to commit to the UNIFY vision: Promote school communities where all young people are agents of change--fostering acceptance, respect, dignity and advocacy with and for people with intellectual disabilities and, therefore, anyone who is perceived as being different.

Time:      8:30am-2:00pm


  1. EDUCATE - Awareness: Provide young people with peer – led opportunities to understand the potential and ways of serving as active agents for change in their local, national and global communities. 
  2. MOTIVATE - Attitude: Energize young people to unleash their creative leadership potential to accept, respect and advocate with and for persons with intellectual disabilities.
  3. ACTIVATE - Action: Stimulate new approaches for sharing experiences, engaging in community action and policy change.


The activities for this day will include a tour of the newly remodeled Idaho Statehouse, lunch, watching part of the house/senate floor debate, participating in a meet and greet in the Capitol Rotunda and a chance to present your school activities from the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.  Additionally, Governor Otter will be dedicating a tree in honor of the 2009 World Winter Games and reading a Proclamation.
